Tips for PMP certification

I have been asked by several friends and colleagues about the PMP certification. In the interest of all I am putting together some useful info .

Here are the steps to become a PMP.
0. Will to work hard and have enthusiasm towards Project management. My view is, you may not want to do this certification just for the name sake.

1. Prerequisite
- For the people with Bachelor's degree: Applicants must have a minimum three years’ professional project management experience, during which 4,500 hours are spent leading and directing project tasks, up to eight years from the time of application.

-For the people without a Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants must have a minimum five years’ professional project management experience, during which at least 7,500 hours are spent leading and directing project tasks, up to eight years from the time of application.

2. Need to attend 35 hours of Project management education.

3. Fill the application in the PMI website. This is a long process, here is the help full excel sheet I have used fill the hours of experience in various activities (Initialization, Planning, etc..). You may have different hours exp, so please use this excel sheet just as a reference.

4. Schedule for the online exam (in the Prometric site).

Help full books for studying:
1. A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, Third Edition
2. PMP Exam Prep, Fifth Edition: Rita's Course in a Book for Passing the PMP Exam

Tips:
1. You will get some discount on bcoming a PMI member and also some more benifits. So its worth becoming a member.
2. The time for each question is less in the exam, so you should have solid preparation before appearing for the exam.

Surprised to see Chennai's traffic better than Hyderabad

I went to Chennai for Business Visa (USA) - April 25th. I am quite impressed with the traffic here. Hyderabad is far worst than Chennai, here people have more traffic sense. Also I found the cost of living is less here. I can get good buffet lunch for just Rs. 71 :)

Can someone educate Hyderabadis on traffic sense

Its becoming night mare driving in Hyderabad day by day. Particularely the cab drivers are very rash in Hitech city area. I was talking to my collegues who have the same impression. May be we should educate all teh Cab drivers driving in the Hitech city area. The situation may be the same in other areas of the city. God bless Greater Hyderabad (officially today is the birth day of Greater Hyderabad).

How about taking out all White Tata Indica cabs out at least one day in a week :)
